Vanderheiden makes waves in 410 Sprint Car debut at Clay County; ASCS National next
Cole Vanderheiden's 410 Sprint Car debut on Friday, September 12, was almost perfect, to say the least, battling hot and heavy before concluding the Midwest Sprint Touring Series (MSTS) program at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, with a runner-up finish, doing so after starting in the exact same position and leading 17 circuits. In fact, the only wheelman to outdo Vanderheiden's performance was fellow Nebraska native, Jack Dover, who drove ahead from ninth to secure the victory.
Vanderheiden, now with 17 top-fives on the season, as well as 39 top-tens, launched his 410 debut with a fourth-place score in his respective heat race. An eventual redraw set him up on the outside of the feature front row.
With MSTS competition at Clay County complete, the "Cole Train" will now return his focus to ASCS National competition, set to join the Series at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway Park in Pevely, Missouri, on Saturday, September 20. To learn more, visit ASCS online at www.ascsracing.com.
